Roxidizer® Technology

Tellkamp Systems engineered the line using patented Roxidizer Technology. Exhaust air volume is cut dramatically by recirculating the automatic booths and counterflowing manual touchup booths back to the automatics (see table).

With Roxidizer® Technology exhaust air volume is less than one-seventh that of a standard design. This slashes the size and cost of the Roxidizer® required. In addition, fuel costs are much lower because the solvent laden air is more concentrated.

The simplified layout below shows the six spray booths and the flash tunnel used to prevent fugitive emissions prior to curing.

Experience in air volume reduction is one reason YKK chose Tellkamp Systems, Inc. For example, filter experience is needed to obtain defect-free parts when recirculating Tellkamp Systems’ auto-advance rollup filter efficiently filters recirculating air and maintains constant air flow in the booths (see sketch below).

Consultant Installs Unit

Turner Engineering of Dallas, Texas completed successful startup and testing off a Roxidizer® Model 15 at the Quality Cabinets Division of Texwood Industries. The Roxidizer® destroys paint fumes from their wood finishing operations. More frequent use of consultants is expected as local air pollution regulations grow more complex and a wider group of lower VOC emitting companies need controls.

Experience and safety go hand in hand. For added safety, Tellkamp Systems backs up the usual air flow switches with an online LEL analyzer, which will shutdown painting if an abnormally high solvent fume concentration exists.

Overall, YKK has a world class paint system. IT was made possible by integrating Roxidizer® Technology with Tellkamp Systems’ 20 years of experience in custom finishing systems.

ABB Places Order

ABB Paint Finishing of Troy, Michigan has purchased a Roxidizer Model 20 for integration into paint system modifications at Lacks Industries Inc. Raleigh Street plant in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
